December is the first month of winter season and end of the peak trekking season in Nepal. Winter is the dry season with the clear mountain views. During the day time, the weather is warmer in the sun and colder in the night. There will be snow fall at higher elevations so the trekking is not highly recommended to above 4000 meters. But depending upon the weather, you can still make a trekking trip to the popular trekking regions like Everest, Annapurna and langtang. The remote areas like Manaslu, Upper Mustang, Upper Dolpo, Kanchenjunga and Humla Simikot have the risk of heavy snowfall.

Although Autumn and Spring seasons are the most popular trekking time in Nepal. But, trekking in Nepal in December has its own advantages. The skies are clear enough to views the landscapes, mountains and beautiful scenes. In December, there will not be rainfall (most probably) and the snowfall will not be so thick. So, you can view the snow capped mountains.Winter season is the off season for trekking in Nepal so the hotels, restaurants, airlines and transportation will low down their cost. So, you will have some discounts or best deal offers during December. Due to low season, there will not be so much trekkers even on the busy trails and there will be easy availability of tea houses.
